Bridging the Tech Skills Gap with SPRNT®
A Regenerative Approach to Tech Talent Development
THE INSPIRATION
Empowering Diverse Talent through Hands-On Training, On the Job Experiences, and Apprenticeships
SnapIT® was born out of a desire to change lives and bridge the tech skills gap. After a day spent mentoring disadvantaged middle school students, founder Neelima Parasker realized the lack of exposure these students had to engineering and technology careers. When asked if they knew any engineers as mentors, the students responded with a resounding “Nobody.” This experience inspired Parasker to create SnapIT® with the initial goal of positively impacting 10 lives each year. Since then, the innovative SPRNT® model has far surpassed that goal, training and developing hundreds of students annually.
THE CONCEPT
The SPRNT® model was conceptualized to address the growing demand for IT talent and the lack of adequate resources, education, and opportunities available to underserved communities. By providing accessible, high-quality IT training and hands-on experience, SPRNT® aims to create a diverse and continuous talent pipeline that meets the evolving needs of the tech industry.
THE MODEL
The SPRNT® model is a regenerative approach to IT talent development, consisting of the following key components:
SnapIT Trainings™
SPRNT® begins with customized, short-duration Hi-Tech IT Trainings, typically lasting less than a semester. SnapIT® partners with workforce agencies and organizations that provide funding to support students’ training expenses.
SnapIT Solves™
Upon completing initial trainings, entry-level interns and apprentices gain hands-on experience working on real-world projects with less intense timeline requirements, further enhancing their skills and practical knowledge.
SnapIT Pods™
Graduates of the SPRNT® program are placed in SnapIT Pods™, teams of 4-6 members that include experienced senior developers and junior developers. These pods work on client projects, delivering high-quality solutions while providing a supportive environment for continued learning and growth.
The SPRNT® model is designed to be self-sustaining, with each cohort of graduates contributing to the training and mentorship of the next generation of IT talent. This regenerative approach ensures a continuous pipeline of skilled, diverse professionals ready to meet the demands of the ever-evolving tech landscape.
THE RESULTS
- Partnered with workforce agencies to train over 500 students in in-demand IT skill sets over the past 3 years, creating a constant pipeline of high-tech skilled candidates, all of whom are U.S. citizens.
- Developed scalable web and mobile applications for small and medium businesses, providing in-house trained development at costs comparable to or lower than offshore development.
- Successfully placed an average of 5 SnapIT Pods™ per year, consistently exceeding client expectations with fixed bid pricing and low risk, while ensuring a guaranteed scalable pipeline of talent through the SPRNT® model.
